Formed in late 2013, Kent based hard rock band Alive In Lights are ready to break out of the south and push their music to the rest of the UK! Taking influences from rock and metal favourites Issues, Memphis May Fire, Of Mice & Men and Slipknot, the band boast the creation of a set of music that they love to play, not just what conforms to popularity.
With their new EP ‘Brighter Days’ due for release in September, be sure give it a listen and keep an eye out on what’s to come from Alive In Lights as that continue to grow!
Introduce yourself! Who are you and where did it all begin?
We are Alive In Lights, a 4 piece hard rock band from Kent. Myself (Jay) and Scott (vocals/guitar) started this project when our last band Up For The Letdown ended. We wanted to create music that we loved to play and write, not just what would get us noticed or what a popular at the time. We really feel a have achieved that and are continuing to improve on that as we go.
How would you describe your sound in just 3 words?
Balldropping catchy riffage
What has been your biggest highlight as a band so far?
I think our biggest highlight so far was supporting 48 Hours at Camden Barely, not just because of playing a prestigious world famous venue but meeting such great people and making new friends with such a great band. It was a great show.
Looking back at every song you’ve ever written as a band, which is your favourite to play and why?
For me personally it would have to be Beautiful You from our new EP. It’s different to our general sound and the end is sounds so epic. Tho as a band probably Brighter Days as it’s full of energy and and great riffs it’s a good song to play.
If you could play at any festival in the world, where would you pick?
Obviously we would have to pick Download. One of the best in the world right here at home. Although I’d say Vans Warped Tour would be a very close second.
Who are your biggest musical influences?
Our influences are so varied from each member. We all bring different styles of Influences such as Memphis May Fire, Alter Bridge, Breaking Benjamin, Metallica, Issues and Slipknot to name a few. Even Tho Scott is obsessed with Disney songs we manage to keep it Rock.
If you could form a ‘super group’ with any other band who would you pick?
That’s a difficult one, I think we would all have different ideas of who we’d love to do that with. At this point tho I don’t think a would be that picky as any opportunity we would grab with both hands.
What would be your ideal tour line-up?
We recently actually became big fans of Chasing Cadence, such great musicians and incredible songwriting skills. We would love to be on a line Up with those guys. We have made so many good friends with bands we have played with and touring with any of those we would have blast.
What can we expect to see and hear from you in the future?
We are already planning out next EP and a video. Plenty more gigs further out into the UK and hopefully a tour next year. We have so many ideas a want to put out there and we will do everything a can to make it happen.
